Where compassion becomes action
Vaishalya Healing is a counselling and wellness centre founded by Leena Mehta in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. It operates as a unit of the Asha Bhupender Charitable Trust, a registered charitable trust working across mental health awareness, rehabilitation, community welfare, and holistic wellbeing.
We believe that healing is not a privilege. It is a basic human need. And we believe that behind every sustained community effort, there are ordinary people who showed up and chose to care.
If you are looking to volunteer in India, contribute to mental health awareness in Kangra, support our Palampur NGO programmes, help with de-addiction recovery, or gain meaningful field experience in social work or NGO operations, this is a real place where your effort will matter.

Get involvedWhat volunteers and supporters say
Mental health support was never something families here could easily access or afford. What this trust is doing, bringing that care into the hills, is something the region genuinely needed. The work is quiet but it is consistent.
There are very few places in Himachal where a woman's family can find structured rehabilitation support without traveling far or spending beyond their means. This trust fills that gap in a way that feels thought through, not rushed.
Smt. Leena Kumari has built something here that the community was missing for a long time. It is not just about the facility. It is about how seriously they take the recovery process. That seriousness shows.
The work here is quiet but it is deep. You start to see how much one person showing up consistently can change the atmosphere for people who have been struggling alone.
What stands out is that this is not just a token initiative. They are working consistently on the ground, in communities where these conversations were never even had before. That kind of sustained effort is rare.
The setting itself, deep in the mountains, surrounded by calm, adds something to the healing process that you cannot manufacture. Combined with the structured care they provide, it makes this place genuinely different from anything else available here.
The Women's Rehabilitation Centre in Himachal Pradesh
One of the most significant upcoming projects under the Asha Bhupender Charitable Trust is a dedicated women's rehabilitation centre in Himachal Pradesh. This centre will provide structured, long-term support for women recovering from addiction, trauma, and situations of vulnerability in the Kangra region and surrounding districts.
It is being built on the belief that women deserve a space that is safe, respectful, and oriented toward real recovery and life reintegration, not just short-term relief.
Volunteers will play an active role in this centre once operational, from activity coordination and vocational support to awareness and documentation work.
- Dedicated residential support for women in recovery
- Vocational training and skill development within the centre
- Peer support and community-building programmes
- Volunteer roles in daily activities, outreach, and coordination
- Collaboration with counsellors, social workers, and NGO teams

Leena Mehta
Licensed Counselling Psychologist ยท Founder, Vaishalya Healing ยท Chairman, Asha Bhupender Charitable Trust ยท Palampur, Himachal Pradesh
Leena Mehta has spent over five years in active counselling practice and community mental health work across Himachal Pradesh. She founded Vaishalya Healing as a counselling centre and established the Asha Bhupender Charitable Trust to extend that work into rehabilitation, community welfare, and social impact at a broader scale.
Her approach is rooted in the belief that mental wellbeing is a community issue, not just an individual one, and that recovery requires patience, structure, and sustained human presence.
"When someone chooses to volunteer, they are not just giving their time. They are choosing to believe that people deserve care. That belief changes things."
