Her Journey
A Life Devoted to Healing
Leena Mehta's path into psychology was shaped by a deep sensitivity to human suffering and a conviction that mental health care should be accessible to everyone. Growing up in Himachal Pradesh, she witnessed firsthand how communities, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, often navigate emotional distress, relationship breakdowns, and substance dependence in silence, without adequate support or understanding around them.
She trained extensively in clinical and counselling psychology, earning a Postgraduate degree in Psychology along with a Postgraduate Diploma in Guidance and Counselling. Her early career took her into some of the most challenging clinical environments in the region, including the well-regarded Naya Savera Rehabilitation Centre in Palampur, where she provided structured therapeutic support to individuals and families navigating substance use disorders. These experiences cemented her belief that sustained recovery requires consistency, dignity, and long-term, compassionate engagement rather than short-term fixes.
Today, through Vaishalya Healing, she serves clients seeking support for anxiety, mood-related concerns, couple and relationship counselling, behavioural challenges, and de-addiction, both through her private practice and virtual sessions. Recognized as one of the best psychologists in Himachal Pradesh, she also mentors psychology interns and runs awareness programs for young people across the state.

Leadership and Advocacy
Chairperson, Asha Bhupender Charitable Trust
Beyond her clinical practice, Leena Mehta serves as Chairperson and Managing Trustee of the Asha Bhupender Charitable Trust, a role through which she drives meaningful mental health advocacy across communities in Himachal Pradesh. The Trust was founded on the recognition that in many communities, emotional distress, substance dependence, and psychological suffering are frequently misunderstood, stigmatized, or left without adequate support, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
Under her leadership, the Trust conducts active awareness campaigns across colleges, schools, and community institutions, reaching thousands of young people with accessible, stigma-sensitive mental health education. She oversees the Trust's governance, strategic direction, and its partnerships with counsellors, rehabilitation practitioners, and community stakeholders, ensuring that the work remains ethical, scalable, and grounded in real community needs.
Through these outreach efforts, Leena has built one of the most consistent mental health advocacy programs in the region, working tirelessly to transform awareness into action and bring the conversation around mental wellness into spaces where it has long been absent.
